Academic Administrator

City Colleges specialises in part-time professional education, aimed at graduates and people returning to education within the following fields – Accountancy, Law, Business and Humanities. In addition we are expanding our educational offerings to included level 8 degree programmes from September 2021.

This role forms part of the academic administration team which works in conjunction with the City Education Group (CEG) admissions team and registry office. The role is based in Dublin City Centre.

The role is primarily responsible for the efficient management and administration of all programmes and learners. The role requires a professional, highly motivated and flexible individual who can work well in a fast paced, learner focused environment.

Working Week

37.5 hours 10am – 6.30pm

The salary scale is €30k

Candidates will be required to provide evidence of:


1) Prior experience in an education environment
2) Proficiency in Office 365 (specifically Excel, Outlook, Teams)
3) Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
4) Excellent planning and organisational skills (including high level of attention to detail)
5) Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time
6) Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

Desirable criteria for the position

7) Prior experience with online learning platforms (OLP’s) including Moodle and Microsoft Teams
8) An above average level of ICT (Information & Communications Technology) knowledge and an openness to new technology including its application and exploitation

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The Academic Administrator will play a central role in academic administration within CEG at City Colleges. The appointee will carry out such duties as are assigned by management including, but not limited to:
a) Handling enquiries from enrolled learners via telephone and email.
b) Processing applications and enrolments
c) Maintaining learner and programme records
d) Administration of OLP’s including programme pages; staff and learner accounts
e) Co-ordinating programme timetables and room bookings
f) Management of programme resources and materials
g) Ad-hoc operational support for events and courses (including orientation/graduation)
